Exciting, memorable food experience

CH&CO are a collection of specialist businesses who create memorable food and drink experiences for their consumers. A great believer that good food and hospitality bring people together, their status is reflected by CH&CO holding a Royal Warrant for catering services to HM The Queen.

With expertise across event catering, workplace restaurants, corporate fine dining, event management, reception and concierge service to name just a handful, this business has a high reputation to reflect online. CH&CO’s core markets were heavily impacted by the pandemic and the need for a strong online presence was heightened. With an existing but limited WordPress website in place, they needed a new solution that would achieve their objectives within a modest budget.

The project

Having acquired existing NetConstruct client, Gather and Gather, we were already known to the team at CH&CO. With a limited team resource available throughout the pandemic, we worked closely with them to support their needs. It was therefore only natural that CH&CO came to us for help when they wanted to improve their online presence. As a national catering organisation, CH&CO were inevitably affected by the pandemic and the need for a strong digital presence was recognised. However, their existing WordPress website was difficult to navigate and was impacting CH&CO’s internal team’s ability to implement changes and improvements. A new site was needed that would empower them instead of holding them back. They turned to the NetConstruct team to see what was possible.

The solution

Despite the link to CH&CO through Gather and Gather, our team hadn’t previously worked with CH&CO which meant we didn’t know anything about the business. The starting point for this project was to learn about who they are and what they do alongside understanding their audience to identify personas. To do this efficiently, we ran a mini UX workshop which allowed us to quickly get under the skin of CH&CO.

Our solution was clear: relaunch CH&CO with a new and improved website within the constraints of a tight budget by cloning the existing Gather and Gather site.

We mapped CH&CO’s site structure against Gather and Gather, fitting as closely as we could to the existing structure. While this process generated some great roadmap ideas for future development, it ultimately enabled us to find the best way to work with what was available.

A few tweaks were prioritised to ensure the site worked effectively for CH&CO. Key templates were taken from Gather and Gather and reskinned to bring the site to life in line with the CH&CO brand. With the new look ready to launch and the site structure planned, we built the site on the latest available version of Kentico.

Prior to the cloning, Gather and Gather’s website was upgraded to enable both businesses to benefit from the latest version of Kentico. Given their restricted internal capacity, we built the site and offered further support to fulfil content entry so it was ready to launch.

The outcome

The cost-effective solution has given CH&CO an up-to-date online presence all within the constraints of a limited budget. The business is exceptionally happy with the end result, so much so that what was initially intended to be an interim site is now viewed as having more longevity to support their business needs.
